The Colon Capital D Movement :D

A ll around the world, vigilante young people  have been seen tagging colon capital D's on city street corners, town hall and chamber of commerces, and throughout mass transit never centers.  The Colon capital D, when perceived as a symbol, and not syntax, forms the familiar internet emoticon lovingly referred to as "the smiley".

SIDENOTE: Not to say that its due recognition, did not come without an uphill battle.  the :D smiley was neck and neck with the :) smiley for what may well have been a condensed millenia, for supremacy of the chatroom battlefields.  But in the end, :D emerged victorious and without a scratch.  For the destiny was his, all along.  His face would be seen everywhere.  He would be known by all.  he would free the fair maiden from the clutches of doom....

Back to the story, these vigilante young people have been arrested, gagged, and have been revoked all forms of due process up to and including the writ of habeas corpus.   They have been brutalized by the police, and mocked in front of a live studio audience by ludicrously credentialed half wit TV judges.  The Hammer did fall.  It fell hard, and without mercy upon them for their heinous crimes.  In no way, would any of them be allowed leniency or a chance to cop out.  Nothing but the heaviest, and most irregularly shaped book would suffice to throw at them.

Now, with the movement growing, and the prison walls bursting at the seams.  There are too many, and too few.  Too many people have caught onto the trend.  too few police are left to arrest them all.  Too many people have seen what can happen when an idea of chaotic happiness threatens to upset those old farts in their patio chairs.  Too few old farts are left, and they are too far between to stop us.  Too many years have gone by in which we have served them blindly.  Too few, are the days in which we will continue to fall into line.

So the :D is popping up everywhere.  In pop culture, in music, and album art, from contemporary cubists and futurists, to landscape and still life aficionados.  The colon capital D smiley could run for president, and win stupendously in the first ever

"NO NEED TO EVEN CAST A VOTE , ELECTION",

but hes simply far too modest for that.  He'd just as well go on the rest of his life, just hanging out with us on our walls, on our clothes, in our minds.  For the only thing that the :D smiley worships in this world, is happiness.  All forms of happiness including love, devotion, loyalty, friendship, sexuality, creativity and dance.

And so we dance, with the smiley happily on our minds.  Happily entwined in our dancing feet.  We dance, and laugh knowing that the smiley is never far away.  He comforts us, he reminds us.  He teaches us.

One day, i laid down on my bed, exhausted from a long day of waxing and polishing and moonshining.  I yawned ferociously, shed a tear of lubrication, turned my head to the wall, and saw smiley just looking at me, smiling.

I couldnt help but smile back.  Hes such a cute wil' guy.

I daydreamed for a moment.

"What does it all mean, Smiley?"  I quietly echoed in my head.

"Beats me.... but it sure is funny!"  said smiley.

And the moment faded amongst the waves.
